Descrição detalhada : ?-Tubulin, mapped on human chromosome 17q21.2, codes for a member of the tubulin family. It is localized to the microtubule organizing centres. ?-Tubulin consists of two isoforms tubulin ? 1 (TUBG1) and tubulin? 2 (TUBG2) with 97.3% amino acid identity. In addition to these two isoforms, ?-tubulin pseudogene (TUBG1P) is also been identified on human chromosome 17. Human TUBG1 and TUBG2 transcripts are widely expressed in preimplantation embryos and the brain, respectively. ?-tubulin is a component of ?-tubulin ring complex (?-TuRC), which has roughly the same diameter as a microtubule. ?-Tubulin does not polymerize with ?-tubulin/?-tubulin, but instead it is localized to the centrosome and to the cytoplasm.
