It might protect the heart from doxorubicin-associated damage. Dexrazoxane acts as a cardiopulmonary protectant, while treating Hodgkin?s disease (HD). It functions as a chelating agent, which limits the formation of anthracycline-iron complexes. It is used to synthesize antimalarial drugs.
