A long-chain fatty acid inhibitor, it is used for pre-emergence and pre-plant control in crops such as maize, peanuts, soybeans, cotton, potatoes, and sugarcane.According to the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 1372/2011 of 21st December 2011, acetochlor is not approved for use in the European Union (EU) as a plant protection agent, following the Regulation (EC) No. 1107/2009. But maximum residue levels of 0.02 mg/kg and 0.05 mg/kg are allowed for its presence in frozen/fresh fruits and tree nuts respectively, according to the EU Reg. No 2015/603.
