Descrição detalhada : Gangliosides are glycosphingolipids, that contain sialic acid residues in the glycan chain. They are mainly present on the surface of neuronal cells. Gangliosides are also present in serum. Four complex ganglioside structures, such as GM1, GD1a, GD1b and GT1b are the most abundantly found ganglioside in mammalian brains. Gangliosides comprise a ceramide tail attached to a polar carbohydrate head.
