Descrição detalhada : Glycine receptor alpha3 subunit, also known as GLRA3, belongs to the ligand-gated ion channel family. Glycine functions as a inhibitory neurotransmitter throughout the CNS of mammals. The Glycine receptor is a neurotransmitter ligand-gated ion channel. GLRA3 is a pentamer that is composed of ligand binding alpha and structural beta subunits. When glycine binds to the receptor, chloride conductance increases which produces hyperpolarization. It is expressed in the hippocampus, olfactory bulb, and cerebellum. GLRA3 may be involved in human and murine neurological disorders.
