Descrição detalhada : Anosmin is a large (100 kDa) secreted peripheral membrane heparin binding glycoprotein that plays a role in neurodevelopment. Anosmin influences the patterning of the mitral and tufted cell collaterals and stimulates axon elongation and branching in the olfactory system, and it seems to have a critical role in the spatiotemporal arrangement in cranial neural cell formation. The protein interacts with FGFR1 and promotes FGF receptor mediated gene expression but it also inhibits BMP5 and WNT3A signaling activities. It is thought through this orchestration that Anosmin controls the epithelial-mesenchymal transition and the mesenchymal-epithelial transition during neural crest cell development. Mutations in the Anosmin gene, KAL1, are the cause of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism 1. A disorder characterized by absent or incomplete sexual maturation by the age of 18 years, in conjunction with low levels of circulating gonadotropins and testosterone and no other abnormalities of the hypothalamic-pituitary axis. EMD-Millipore's anti-Anosmin rabbit polyclonal antibody has been tested in western blot against human MCF7 cells and immunocytochemistry against MCF7 cells in culture.
