Descrição detalhada : The Apelin receptor (APJ receptor) is a Gi/o-coupled protein with significant sequence homology to the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor. It is activated by apelin peptides (12, 17, or 36 amino acids). The effects of the apelin receptor are mediated mainly through the activation of protein kinase C and calcium signaling. The apelin receptor has been detected in the brain, heart, spleen, thymus, ovary, small intestine, and colon. Several studies have suggested that it is involved in regulating cardiovascular function and glucose homeostasis.
