Descrição detalhada : YKL-40 (Chitinase-3-like protein 1; human cartilage glycoprotein 39) is a secreted glycoprotein belonging to the glycosyl hydrolase 18 (GH18) family. It is found primarily in chondrocytes, activated macrophages, and hepatocytes. The precise biological function of YKL-40 is still unknown; however, recent studies suggest that YKL-40 may play a role in cell differentiation and inflammation. YKL-40 is elevated in the sera of patients with inflammatory diseases or cancer, and it is currently being investigated as a potential biomarker for these conditions.
