Descrição detalhada : Cullin-3 (UniProt Q13618) is encoded by the CUL3 (also known as PHA2E, KIAA0617) gene (Gene ID 8452) in human. Polyubiquitination of proteins is mediated by ubiquitin-activating enzymes (E1s), ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes (E2s), and ubiquitin ligases (E3s). There exist RING finger-type, HECT-type, and U-box type of E3 ligases. Cullin-3 belongs to the cullin family of hydrophobic proteins that confer substrate specificity to the multimeric Cullin-RING E3 ubiquitin ligase (CRL) complexes by acting as scaffold proteins. The activity of CRLs is regulated by Cullin Neddylation via the reversible conjugation of a small ubiquitin-type protein known as Neural precursor cell expressed developmentally down-regulated protein 8 (Nedd8). Cullin-3-based CRLs rely on Cullin-3 interaction with bric-a-brac/tramtrack/broad-complex (BTB) domain-containing proteins for targets recruitment.
