Descrição detalhada : IL1RL1, or Interleukin-1 receptor-like 1 protein, which is also known as Lymphocyte antigen 84, Protein ST2, or Protein T1, and encoded by the gene IL1rL1/Ly84/St2/Ste2 is the receptor for IL-33 and its activation recruits MYD88, IRAK1, IRAK4 and TRAF6 transcription factors and promotes the activation of ERK1/MAPK14 and MAPK8. IL1RL1 also is involved in T-helper Cell activation and function. IL1RL1 is localized to the plasma membrane. IL1RL1 is expressed in hematopoietic tissues, macrophages, epithelial and fibroblast cells lines as well as important tissues such as heart and lung. IL1RL1 is a member of the Toll-like receptor superfamily and interestingly plays an important role not in inflammation but in cardiac protection. When IL-33 binds it elicits a cardioprotective signaling response in the tissue and thus helps protect the heart tissue during times of ischemia for instance. Defects in IL1RL1 have been linked to atopic dermatitis and asthma.
