Descrição detalhada : Inversin is a tubulin-associated protein, which is highly expressed in the cilia of renal tubules. It contains sixteen ankyrin repeats at the N-terminus and two IQ domains at the C-terminus. The ankyrin repeats facilitate protein-protein interactions, whereas the IQ domains are involved in calmodulin binding. Previous studies have indicated that inversin modulates the Wnt signaling pathway, and interacts with a plethora of intracellular signaling targets, including Disheveled, Frizzled-8, alpha- and beta catenins, NPHP1, and NPHP3. Inversin is localized to mitotic spindle fibers, and plays an important role in renal development and left-right axis determination. Defects in inversin result in nephronophthisis type 2, an autosomal recessive cystic kidney disease.
