Descrição detalhada : Polymerase I and transcript release factor (PTRF), also known as "cavin-1," is a small cytoplasmic protein, which interacts with caveolin-1 to assemble specialized membrane invaginations (or caveolae), in various types of cells. Caveolae house specific proteins and lipids and play a central role in cell signaling and endocytosis. PTRF may also play a role in metabolism. Mice lacking functional PTRF are affected by hyperinsulinemia and glucose intolerance. In addition, PTRF may play a role in prostate cancer.
