Descrição detalhada : The TATA-box-binding protein (TBP) is a critical, eukaryotic transcription factor. TBP a part of the RNA polymerase II eukaryotic transcription complex and is required for the transcriptional initiation of RNA polymerases. TBP is considered to be a limiting factor for certain RNA promoters. Expression is ubiquitous, however the highest expression has been observed in testis and ovary. Mutations in TBP result in spinocerebellar ataxia type 17(SCA17), a cerebellar disorder classified as autosomal dominant cerebellar ataxia and characterized by atrophy to the cerebellar and cerebral regions, extrapyramidal signs, and dementia.
