Descrição detalhada : TIGAR (TP53-induced glycolysis and apoptosis regulator) is a p53-inducible protein that is thought to diminish levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and this may also contribute to p53 protecting from genomic damage. TIGAR's ability to lower ROS levels may also have an important role to play in the autophagic response. It is known to decrease levels of fructose-2,6-bisphosphate and in turn inhibits glycolysis. Under ischemic stress, recent research has shown that TIGAR and p53 can regulate cellular energy homeostasis and apoptosis.
