The encoded protein is also called VAP33, which shows a wide range of tissue expression. It is an integral membrane protein, which is composed of coiled-coil domains. This protein was originally isolated from Aplysia as an interacting partner of VAMP/synaptobrevin. This protein co-localizes with occluding at the tight junctions in cells. This protein has a molecular weight of 33kDa.
