Descrição detalhada : The glucagon-like peptides GLP-1 and GLP-2 are important gut hormones released from the small intestine upon nutrient ingestion. In circulation, GLP-2 is present in two molecular forms, GLP-2 (1-33) and GLP-2 (3-33). Similar to GLP-1, active form GLP-2 (1-33) is cleaved to inactive form GLP-2 (3-33) by protease DPPIV. GLP-2 has been shown to play important roles in the regulation of gastrointestinal functions (digestion, absorption, motility, epithelial growth, and blood flow) and bone resorption. Thus, GLP-2 or its analogs may have therapeutic potentials for the treatment of diseases such as Crohn's disease and osteoporosis.
