Descrição detalhada : Interleukin 5 (IL-5) is a hematopoietic growth factor that is primarily produced by activated T lymphocytes, and is approximately 70% homologically identical in both human and mouse. IL-5 has been shown to promote the growth of immature hematopoietic BFU-E progenitors, as well as stimulate the activation and differentiation of eosinophils, and promote the generation of cytotoxic lymphocytes. When production levels of this growth factor become elevated, IL-5 has also been shown to be linked to asthmatic conditions in both human and mouse models.
