N-palmitoyl serine phosphoric acid is a competitive inhibitor of the LPA receptor in Xenopus oocytes. However, in mammalian cells, N-palmitoyl-serine phosphoric acid may act as an agonist for the LPA receptor. LPA is a lipid mediator that acts similar to growth factors through G-protein coupled plasma membrane receptors. LPA may play a role in platelet aggregation, smooth muscle contraction, vasoactive changes, cytoskeletal reorganization and cell proliferation. N-palmitoyl serine phosphoric acid may also play a role in signal transduction in mammalian cells by increasing intracellular calcium. , N-palmitoyl serine phosphoric acid prevents human platelet aggregation, which is induced by 1-hexadecyl-2-lyso-sn-glycero-3-phosphate.
