The enzymaticdigest of casein (tryptone) with a high level of free amino acids is a nitrogensource. Yeast extract primarily supplies the B-complex vitamins. Glucose is anenergy source for the growth of bacteria, while agar is the solidifying agent.Plate Count Agar is also suitable for determining bacterial count from sterilerooms.
