Pseudomonas Isolation Agar

Descrição detalhada : Pseudomonas Isolation Agar is used as a selective and differential medium for primary isolation and identification of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It is a modified medium based on the formulation of Medium A by King et al. and developed to differentiate Pseudomonas aeruginosa from other Pseudomonas sp. based on pigment formation. Peptic digest of animal tissue provides nitrogenous compounds. Glycerol serves as carbohydrate source and promotes the phycocyanin (blue-green pigment) production. Magnesium is a cofactor for many metabolic reactions and together potassium sulphate stimulates phyocyanin production as well. Irgasan is an antibiotic and selective inhibits gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria other than Pseudomonas spp. Agar is the solidifying agent.
