Descrição detalhada : Half FRASER (Demi FRASER) broth has high nutrient content and the large buffer capacity that creates optimum growth conditions for Listeria. Lithium chloride, nalidixic acid, and acriflavine hydrochloride largely inhibit the growth of accompanying bacteria. Esculin and ammonium iron (III) citrate enables the detection of the beta-D-glucosidase activity by the formation of a black complex of esculetin with iron (III) ions. However, this reaction is not exclusive to Listeria sp. and hence every primary and secondary enrichment in FRASER broth has to be sub-cultured on selective plating media.
