It is used to control gray mold diseases on many crops by inhibiting phospholipid and fatty acid biosynthesis process.Diethofencarb has to be monitored in the Multiannual Control Programme for Pesticides Residues (MACP), run within the EU and EFTA in/on products of plant origin.Diethofencarb was included in Annex I of Commission Directive 2011/26/EU5 on 1 June 2011. As per Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 540/20116, diethofencarb is approved under Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009, repealing Council Directive 91/414/EEC. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has proposed a MRL of diethofencarb at 0.09 mg/kg in bananas imported from Latin American countries following the request received from an evaluating member state (EMS) as per Article 8 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 on 9 November 2015.
