Descrição detalhada : ChromoCult(R) Chromogenic Cronobacter Isolation agar is a chromogenic medium with the chromogenic compound 5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl-α-D-glucopyranoside, a substrate for the detection of α-glucosidase. This enzyme is common in all Cronobacter spp. The bacteria appear as blue to blue-green colored colonies on the medium. This medium is moderately nutritive and selective, ensuring good growth for Cronobacter after pre-enrichment and selective enrichment. Sodium desoxycholate inhibits the growth of Gram-positive concomitant flora. Sodium thiosulphate and ammonium (III) citrate aid in the differentiation of Cronobacter from hydrogen-sulfide-producing Enterobacteriaceae. Sodium chloride maintains the osmotic balance of the medium, while agar is the solidifying agent.
