Descrição detalhada : Dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (EC 3.4.14.5; UniProt P27487; also known as ADABP, ADCP-2, Adenosine deaminase complexing protein 2, DPP IV, T-cell activation antigen CD26, Adenosine deaminase complexing protein 2, Dipeptidyl peptidase 4, Dipeptidylpeptidase IV, TP103) is encoded by the DPP4 (also known as CD26, ADCP2) gene (Gene ID 1803) in human. DPPIV is a homodimeric serine exopeptidase that cleaves x-proline dipeptides from the N-terminus of polypeptides. It is involved in many cellular processes such as activation of cytokines, differentiation, and cell-matrix interactions. Inhibition of DPPIV has been reported to be an effective treatment for type II diabetes. Also, DPPIV acts as a functional receptor for the newly discovered Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) coronavirus.
