It is a chitin synthesis inhibitor and controls the lepidopteran pests by disrupting molting and subsequent completion of theri life cycle due to incomplete exoskeleton formation.As per the commission regulation no 1107/2009, repealing the council directive 91/414/EEC, chlorfluazuron is not approved for use in the European Union. But according to the Art 18(b) Reg 396/2005, a default maximum residue limit (MRL) of 0.01 mg/kg is applicable, wherever necessary.
