Isazophos is an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, that is used on a wide variety of crops such as bananas, citrus fruits, cotton, beet crops, maize, rice, and sugarcane to control turf and soil insect pests like grubs, com rootworms, root maggots, and wireworms. According to Regulation (EC) 1107/2009, isazophos is not approved for use in European Union (EU). A default maximum residue level (MRLs) of 0.01 mg/kg has been set according to Art 18(1)(b) Reg 396 / 2005.
