It belongs to the chemical class of benzophenones and is used against Pseudocercosporella herpotrichoides and Erysiphe graminis in winter and spring wheat, and barley and Uncinula necator in grapes.According to the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 540/2011 of 25th May 2011, metrafenone is approved for use in the European Union (EU) as an active substance in plant protection products, following the Regulation (EC) No. 1107/2009. Maximum residue levels (MRLs) of 0.01 mg/kg to 7 mg/kg are set for the presence of metrafenone in products of plant and animal origin, according to the EU Reg. No 2018/687.Metrafenone has to be monitored in the Multiannual Control Programme for Pesticides Residues (MACP), run within the EU and EFTA in/on products of plant origin.
