Praziquantel

Descrição detalhada : Praziquantel is at present the only drug used for the treatment of human schistosomiasis. It has a pyrazino isoquinoline ring system and is found to be very successful in animals for its anticestode and antitrematode properties. It has been identified that the voltage-gated schistosome calcium ion (Ca2+) channels serve as a target for praziquantel. Even though the commercial preparation of praziquantel comprises of equal amounts of both its 'dextro? and 'laevo? isomers, only the 'laevo? form exhibits schistosomicidal activity.Pharmaceutical secondary standards for application in quality control, provide pharma laboratories and manufacturers with a convenient and cost-effective alternative to the preparation of in-house working standards.
