It retards plant growth by inhibiting gibberellin (GA) biosynthesis, thereby reducing the risk of stem lodging.As per Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009, repealing the directive 91/414/EEC, trinexapac (aka cimetacarb ethyl) is approved for use in the European Union. A maximum residue limit (MRL) of 0.01 mg/kg is applicable for the presence of trinexapac (sum of trinexapac (acid) and its salts, expressed as trinexapac) in fresh/frozen fruits, and tree nuts, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2017/1016.
